In an interview to PIK TV channel, Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili referred to the news about his Armenian roots.
“If you hate Azerbaijanis, I am an Azerbaijani, if you hate Armenians, I am an Armenian, if Jewish, I am the biggest Jew but in any case I am the biggest Georgian patriot,” he said.
As an example of what he said, he reminded Georgian King Davit the Builder who granted religious freedom to all.
He said Georgia is a perspective country as being a small one it managed to unite all the cultures.
“Here you may find the traces of all the cultures and I am proud of it. I feel it on myself,” Saakashvili said.
Referring to the recent statement of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin that the war against Georgia was planned long before, Saakashvili said it was not a secret for anyone. He said Putin has probably made the statement to appear strong for domestic audience.
