Poet and satirist Aramais Sahakyan passed away

Armenia’s distinguished poet and satirist Aramais Sahakyan passed away today at the age of 77. Tert.am learnt about it from Yerevan N8 hospital.

 

Aramais Sahakyan was born in Artsvashen village, graduated from Khachatur Abovian State Pedagogical Institute. In 1967 he participated in the higher literature classes in Moscow’s Gorky Literature University.

 

He worked in Avantgarde paper, in Garun (Sping) literary magazine, in Television and Radio Programs State Committee. From 1982 he was editor-in-chief of Vozni paper.

 

His poems were translated into many languages. He worked in Armenia’s Public TV and was elected an MP.
