Pre-parliament's next step is to create founding parliament, says activist
The Pre-parliament group has announced a plan of creating a founding parliament in Armenia as the next stage of the initiative aimed to achieve a step-by-step government change in Armenia.
“This is not our decision; we are sure that the people do not have enough resources to stand [this situation in the country] until 2018 [next presidential elections in Armenia],” a member of the initiative, Zhirayr Sefilyan, told Tert.am.
The founding parliament will be composed of 65 representatives, according to the activist.
Sefilyan said they do not rule out the possibility of a simultaneous cooperation with other political forces and civic unions.
“We would call on the active political and civic circles to try to keep close to the logic behind our plan of actions. We never say leave aside the logic of your campaign; we say it is possible to find the ‘both …and’ option,” Sefilyan said, expressing hope that the group will finally manage to develop a “protocol” that would gather together honest campaigners.
Elaborating on the current stage of their activities, the Pre-parliament member continued: “We are on the threshold of forming a founding parliament. The tactics differs from all others in that we are heading to reforms to have a replacement, be it though in an embryonic form. We further realize that the next [step] is еxclusively a systemic reform,” he added.
Sefilyan said they are planning weekly protest starting from next week in an attempt “to break through the blockade imposed by the regime” and let the society know about them.
“Taking to the street, we will raise awareness of the alarming situation,” said the activist.
