Union of Armenians of Russia is very concerned about the supply of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan
Union of Armenians of Russia issued a statement in connection with the statements of senior Russian officials over the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan.
"The Union of Armenians of Russia expresses deep concern in connection with the statements of the Russian high-ranking officials that Russia will continue to supply arms to Azerbaijan.
As it is known, as a result of the April four-day war, the Azerbaijani forces committed a number of war crimes against the civilian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and prisoners of war. It is obvious that the military actions by Azerbaijan against Karabakh unleashed in recent days have been carried out with the use of the Russian military techniques.
Widespread condemnation of Azerbaijan's aggression by the international community and the intervention of the OSCE Minsk Group on the one hand, and Russia in particular - on the other hand, drove the aggressor April 5 to a ceasefire. In these days, the Russian authorities have stepped up their mediation efforts to stop the clashes, exclusion of large-scale war and the restoration of the negotiation process which was welcomed in Armenia and by the multimillion Armenian Diaspora.
However, Russia's unwillingness to abandon the supply of weapons a country which fights against the long-term ally of Russia, a member of the CSTO and EEC, caused a wave of protest in Armenia and Russia and, unfortunately, was the reason for the surge of anti-Russian sentiment in Armenia - a country that throughout the post-Soviet years was the only state that does not affect the principles of reliable military and political ally of Russia.
Russia's position is all the more incomprehensible in the background of the RF Prime Minister's statements about that Azerbaijan is at war with the support of Turkey. Let us recall that the flirtation with Turkey and the stubborn refusal to recognize its true essence led Russia to the fact that, despite the delicate agreements on the level of top leadership of the two countries, it "stuck a knife" in Russia's back. The country which has committed a hundred years ago the genocide against the Armenian people, and today, despite the condemnation by many countries and international organizations, consistently continues its policy.
Azerbaijan as a true ally of Turkey today carries out a similar policy, rising to the rank of hero an officer who had killed his sleeping colleague Armenian, with whom he was on training in the framework of the NATO program in Budapest, or anyone who puts in social networks photos with the severed heads of the Armenian soldiers.
We believe that the current flirtation with Azerbaijan may lead to the fact that it followed his true ally - Turkey, can stick a knife in the back of Russia - the only difference is that it will be the "knife", sold by Russia.
Armenia and Russia have not only the strategic and allied relations, but the centuries-old fraternal feelings. Precisely because of the sincere attitude to Russia, Armenian community, supported by the Russian public, calls on Russia today not only to respect the Treaty on Collective Security Treaty Organization (according to Article 1, the states -participants must not participate in alliances and actions directed against another state - party), but also its ongoing policy guided by the norms of morality and justice.
We are sure that justice is the best policy for Russia: only by being fair to others, especially to its allies, Russia can count on the attitude on an attitude as a great world power, which has become today for many nations of the world symbol of protection of Western unilateralism, " - is said in a statement.
