Karen Karapetyan’s image used for PR purposes – opposition MP

The authorities are using the prime minister’s image for purposes of their PR campaign, an opposition MP said today, commenting on President Serzh Sargsyan’s recent statement saying that Karen Karapetyan will head Armenia’s cabinet if his ruling Republican Party wins a vote of confidence in 2017.

“Karen Karapetyan’s figure is being used for PR to secure their success in the parliamentary election. That will later pave Serzh Sartgsyan’s way to the prime minister’s office,” Levon Zurabyan told reporters at the National Assembly.

In his recent interview with Al Jazeera, President Sargsyan said that his possible status as prime minister would depend on the Republican’s result in the election. Karapetyan, who was appointed to office in September, was declared a member of the ruling political force’s Executive Body at the congress on November 26.
