Politician calls for ‘pragmatic approach’ to EU-Armenia agreement
Armenia must demonstrate a pragmatic approach to the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the EU to avoid comparing the deal with the Eurasian Union Treaty, according to Davit David Shahnazaryan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and a former direcor of the National Security Service.
In a speech at a debate discussing document, the politician said he believes that its signing at the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit depends largely on the EU member countries’ goodwill.
Meantime he ruled out any obstacles to the process.
Instead Shahnazaryan called for active efforts by the authorities towards successfully completing the deal. “What we need to do at the moment is to be increasingly active, as we have considerable work to do in at least several EU capitals,” he said, calling attention also to the text of the Eastern Partnership declaration.
