Selana Gomez unveils a sassy new style as she and pop princess Demi Lovato turn heads in bold black numbers at the American Music Awards

12:02 • 20.11.17

Some of the biggest names in music gathered on Sunday night for the 2017 American Music Awards.

A host of stars lit up the red carpet on Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles including Selena Gomez, who debuted her newly dyed blonde hair, and pop princess Demi Lovato.

Selena and Demi arrived in head-turning looks, opting for sizzling black dresses for this year's show, the Daily Mail reports.

Selena, who unveiled her lighter locks at the awards show, flaunted her legs in an edgy black and silver leather dress by Coach.

The Heart Wants What It Wants songstress, 25, stepped on the carpet in her fitted frock, which featured a zippered accent as well as star embellishments.

Selena, a natural brunette, showed off her surprising new hair color as she strutted down the red carpet.

The actress wore her newly colored tresses loose and with a deep side part, making sure to show off her dazzling diamond earrings by Roberto Coin.

Selena - who recently rekindled her romance with Justin Bieber - performed for the first time since undergoing a kidney transplant over the summer.

The former Disney star, who took home the award for favorite female artist in 2016, sang her new single Wolves.

Demi, 25, also turned heads at this year's awards show; the dark haired beauty looked incredible in a strapless lace gown.

The Cool For Summer singer flaunted her assets in the low-cut dress, which had a sweetheart neckline.

The black and nude number ruched at the waist with a mini train of fabric trailing behind her.

Demi styled the curve hugging dress with diamond jewelry and her long raven locks cascading over one shoulder.

Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld had the same idea as Selena, opting for a plunging black leather bralette.

Hailee, 20, layered a structured black blazer, adding tailored trousers and slicked back hair.

Ciara, Nicole Kidman and Kehlani all rocked all black look for this year's show.

Ciara, who sported slick wavy hair, was tantalizing in her mini dress by Alexandre Vauthier; the frock had a thigh high slit, showing off her sculpted pins.

Nicole, 50, was on hand to support her husband, country star Keith Urban

She wowed in a Olivier Theyskens dress with a Versace clutch and boots by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Kelly Rowland, Madelaine Petsch and Lili Reinhart also slipped on black frocks with sheer paneling and a textured accent.

The three women all chose frocks with see-through elements; Kelly and Lili opted to add a pop of color with her Cushnie et Ochs gown while Madelaine went for a fringed look.

Pink made a bold statement in her coral tulle dress, complete with flowers embroidered in blue and white tones.

The strapless frock had gold detailing as well a layered skirt; the Who Knew songstress, 38, finished off the fancy ensemble with navy fringe earrings.

The singer, who posed up a storm with her husband, Cary Hart, rocked her signature pink locks.

Pregnant Jessie James Decker led the way for one popular trend on the red carpet - the color pink.

The 29-year-old country singer put her growing baby bump on display in the glamorous frock for the music extravaganza.

Jessie, who is married to NFL star Eric Decker, styled the off-the-shoulder number with sky-high metallic heels.

The mother of two painted her full pout a pink hue, opting to wear her long ombre locks loose in large waves.

Heidi Klum had a similar idea in mind for the American Music Awards; the supermodel cut a stylish figure in her pink, cream and white seventies style dress - a Vintage Gianni Versace frock.

The German-born beauty, 44, flaunted her cleavage as well as her sculpted back in the plunging look.

Also jumping on the rose colored trend was actress Lea Michele.

The actress, 31, shimmered in the pale hued gown by J. Mendel, complete with a corset and billowy skirt.
