Pretty in Pink! Melania Trump hosts Queen of Jordan for afternoon tea as both fashionistas don summer blush tones

11:18 • 26.06.18

Melania Trump is hosting Queen Rania of Jordan for tea Monday afternoon as their husbands' hold a bilateral meeting.

The first lady will serve afternoon tea in the green room of the White House, the Daily Mail reports, citing communications director Stephanie Grisham.

Both fashionistas opted for pretty pink tones on the warm, sunny, summery Washington D.C. day, wearing complementary blush shades as they joined their husbands for a meeting at the White House.

The first lady wore a blush-colored leather wrap dress from Proenza Schouler that features cap sleeves and a belt at the waist.

She paired the $3,950 frock with matching pink pumps and wore minimal jewelry.

Meanwhile, Queen Rania wore a white blouse tucked into pale pink pants. Her matching pumps were mostly covered by the hem of her wide-leg trousers.

Unlike Melania, she carried a light pink handbag while posing for photos with her husband and the first family.

In addition to wearing matching shades of pink, both women opted to wear their highlighted brown hair loose around their shoulders for the meeting.

For the arrival ceremony, a red carpet was in place on the South Lawn of the White House and flanked by the flags of U.S. and Jordan.

King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and Queen Rania were greeted by the first couple when they exited their black SUV. The foursome shook hands and posed for pictures.

They disappeared inside and moments later walked the colonnade to the Oval Office, followed by their wives.

The last time the royal couple visited the White House - in April 2017 - Melania Trump and Queen Rania visited the Excel Academy, an all-girls charter school in Washington DC, with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

While the ladies are having tea, King Abdullah and President Donald Trump will meet in the Oval Office where they are expected to discuss terrorism, the threat from Iran and the crisis in Syria among other issues during their discussions.

Their meeting follows a week-long trip to the Middle East by White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is also the president's son-in-law, where he said the administration's long-awaited Middle East peace plan is “almost done.”

Kushner's trip was to lay the groundwork for an expected Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.

While overseas Kushner met with the king as part of his trip to Jordan, Israel, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

This is the second time in a week Melania Trump has hosted a queen for tea.

On Tuesday of last week she served tea to Queen Letizia of Spain in the red room of the White House.

Those two ladies were a bright spot on a rainy Washington D.C. day with Queen Letizia standing out in a hot pink Michael Kors dress with pink accessories while the first lady wore an olive and white Valentino dress.
