Marxist party leader to run for presidency
Leader of Armenia’s Marxist party Davit Hakobyan will nominate his candidacy at the upcoming presidential elections.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday he said in the second round he is ready to support other opposition candidate who will reach advantage over him.
“In today’s individuals I do not see ideological masters, while this fight must be the fight of national unity which will secure the critical mass for overturning the power,” Hakobyan said at a news conference on Thursday.
The Marxist said there will not be a united candidate at the first round of elections with the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc and Prosperous Armenia party coming forth with different candidates.
The Marxist said the more candidates are nominated, the more possibility of second round raises.
Davit Hakobyan voiced hope that the other extra parliamentary forces will again realize the necessity of uniting.
“Individuals are nothing separately, but together they are everything. So I expected the extra parliamentary forces to unite on one platform and elect an ideological master,” he said, promising to implement his ideological mission sacredly.
He said on one platform they will decide over who to consolidate.
