New cooperation agreement with Armenia 'very promising' – EU ambassador

The head of the EU Delegation to Armenia on  Friday highly praised the revised cooperation agreement with the country, describing the document as a very promising deal addressing all the areas of mutual interest.

Meeting with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, Ambassador Piotor Switalsko expressed his strong belief that the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement will open a new chapter in the EU-Armenia relations.

He reiterated the Union's support to the continuing reforms in the country, adding that they have thoroughly analyzed the agenda in collaboration with external relations experts. The diplomat said the EU is now considering further actions to ajdust its steps to the “ambitious program”. He added that they are also considering investments in potentially more promising sectors.

Hailing the Union’s efforts and willingness to continue the cooperation, the premier highly appreciated their resolute support as a strong stimulus for the Armenian government.

“It is really appreciable that your experts have analyzed the government’s program and share our vision as the right policy choice. I would really like to give you my assurances that we know and understand how to change our country, and are aware of our problems and shortcomings,” he said.

According to a press release by the Government, the sides also reaffirmed  the shared approaches to the revised agreement and framwork cooperation, highlighting the choice of effective programs and the transprency of future initiatives.

They also addressed the talks over Air Transport Agreement and the current developments in the EU.
