Online media resource which has long-term plans with readers: celebrates 10th anniversary

11:55 • 16.03.18's editorial staff on Wednesday celebrated the website's 10th anniversary in a solemn event organized at Grand Hotel Yerevan.

Politicians from both the pro-government and opposition circles, public figuress, lawyers and human rights acivists, as well colleagues from different media outlets attended the event to congratulate the website's leadership and staff.

“ spares no effort in its everyday work to earn the reputation of a credible resource. We are already 10 years old, so the day is a good opportunity for me to first of all express my gratitude [to our loyal readers] rather than to accept congratulations. I want to thank everybody for starting their day with, for working with us, and showing trust and loyalty which you developed over the course of years,” the website’s general manager, Aram Antinyan, said in a greeting address.

He said that the website’s long-term plans with readers oblige the team to adhere to the standards of high journalism every day by providing credible information and avoiding misleading headlines in the news flow.’s incredibly successful track record has made it a leading news site, said Artak Aleksanyan, the head of the News Department at Armenia TV. In his words, the website’s editorial policies can be a guideline for many other media outlets in Armenia. “This is a kind of website which can offer and change an economic, political and public agenda in the country,” Aleksanyan said.

The political figures with whom the website regularly conducts interviews said they treat also as a useful resource allowing them to get familiarized with many colleagues’ opinions.

Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanovv said he doesn’t know anyone in Armenia for whom is not part of the everyday life. “I know about the political developments through Your job is to ask questions and ours is to respond to them. I extend my congratulations to all the current and former employees, and wish you really good news.”

Armen Ashotyan, who now heads the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations (ruling Republican Party of Armenia), remembered the period when had just launched its activity 10 years ago, with posters featuring the website’s logo advertising the new media resource across Yerevan. “Very few people could imagine then that would become a newsmaker.


“This is not an advertisement of course, but I have to be honest to admit that I begin my day by reading while enjoying my morning coffee. marks the start of my day,” he said.


The Defense Ministry’s press secretary, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, admitted that working with the highly professional team is not really easy.

“To be absolutely frank, there are websites with whom it isn’t practically possible to work. There are sites which are really easy to work with, but they aren’t professional. A journalist of can at times cause you discomfort, putting you in a tight corner so to speak, but that’s the real professionalism,” he said.

The website’s editorial staff had also prepared special gifts and acknowledgement awards for different politicians, and public and political figures.

David Shahnazaryan, a former director of the National Security Service and currently a senior analyst at the Regional Studies Center, was honored as the Best Political Commentator.

Bagrat Asatryan was named the Best Economic Commentator.


The prize for the best analyst in the legal sphere was given to Gevorg Kostanyan, a former prosecutor general who currently chairs the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs (simultaneously representing Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights).


Avetik Ishkhanyan, the founder and president of the Helskinki Committee of Armenia, received a prize as the best commentator in the sphere of human rights issues.

An opposition MP from the political bloc Yelk, Nikol Pashinyan, was honored as the Wittiest Politician.


Tevan Poghosyan, a former member of the National Assembly, received a prize as the Most Frequent Inteviewee.


The prize for the Most Willing Political figure was handed over to Mihran Poghosyan, an MP from the ruling Republican Party.


US Ambassador Richard Mills was awarded as the Most Accessible Ambassador.


The Best Lawyer award was given to Yervand Varosyan, a member of the Chamber of Advocates.
