EU ambassador hails Armenia's progress in Eastern Partnership Project

13:36 • 14.06.18

The head of the EU Delegation to Armenia on Thursday highly praised the country's progress in the Eastern Partnership initiative, highlighting the mission's priorities, and assistance programs aimed at future development.

In his speech at an international scientific conference devoted the regional project's future, Ambassador Piotr Switalkski also addressed the recent landmark domestic political changes, which he said promise real positive developments.

He highlighted the emphasis on the flexibility component in the Eastern Partnership region, calling for the states and societies' readiness for unpredictable developments in different areas (including the economy). The ambassador also reaffirmed the EU's role in helping partners be prepared for any unexpected changes.

He added that they have many useful plans also on the EU-Armenia agenda, particularly financial programs worth €600 million. Meantime, Mr Switalski admitted that the country has the potential to show better results. Appreciating the government's close attention to the implementation of its outlined goals, the ambassador said they expect assistance by the responsible ministries in replenishing the agenda.
