Past: Armenian authorities 'building barricades' instead of consolidating society

Below is an excerpt from the paper’s editorial:

Despite their earlier assurances that they are a "government by the people", the authorities have not managed to date to fulfill their mission of consolidating the public.

Instead, they are leading a campaign aimed at segmenting the society and buildling barricades to split [the people] into blacks and whites.

Whereas the society's segment demonstrating a critical approach to the authorities is now being labelled,  targeted by insults in the social media. Yet the differentiated approach to the citizen is not manifested here alone. The authorities' approach is special indeed when it comes to encouraging their team members and sympathizers.

Not to go too far, it is worth at least remembering the prime minister’s secret order to raise - and what’s even more twice - the salaries of ministers, deputy ministers and other high-ranking officials

And no wonder at all that the bonuses in some government institutions only for the favorites of regional governors or other functionaries have been making headlines in the media.  It is practically the political views, more speciifcally, the relationship with representatives of the authorities - rather than the properly done work - that gains a pivotal importance when it comes to bonoses and encouraging employees. And this is where the rights of multi-thousand workers are being violated; why should not they get higher salaries and bonusues like the high-ranking officials who produce absolutely no result.

And this is actually one of the causes accounting for the authorities' current conduct of detaching themselves from peoploe (amid a raging public discontent(.

Yet the authorities' unjust appraches are blatantly manifested in other initiatives as well. That applies, particularly, to the plans for introducing a universal health insurance system – obliging the employed population to pay mandatory taxes from the insurance funds to cover also the insurance costs of the unemployed at the expense of the Btate Budget.

That initiative too, is the result of not quite correct approaches towards employed citizens.
