No new Samsung Galaxy Note this year, CEO confirms  

Samsung is known for introducing new Galaxy Note series smartphones in the second half of each year.

At the 52nd regular shareholders meeting in South Korea, Samsung Electronics CEO Dong-jin Koh revealed that the company will not be launching a new Galaxy Note series device in the second half of the year. He also affirmed that the company has not axed the Galaxy Note line.

In January, Samsung announced the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+v, and Galaxy S21 Ultra flagship phones. The S21 Ultra became the company’s first S-series to arrive with S Pen stylus support. Since the company has already launched a stylus totting phone, it will be difficult for the brand to release a Note series phone this year.

Prior to S21 Ultra’s launch, the S Pen remained exclusive to the Note line. Reports have claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 will carry support for S Pen. Rumors have also claimed that even Samsung’s midrange phones may arrive with stylus support. Hence, the company may discontinue the Galaxy Note line completely, Gizmochina.com reports.

The new development does not mean that Samsung has axe the Galaxy Note line. Koh said, “It is not that we do not release new products. The timing may vary, but next year we are preparing to continue to do so (machine translation).” Hence, it appears that the company will be back at launching Galaxy Note series models in 2022.

Recent reports have revealed that the South Korean tech giant may announce the Galaxy Z Fol3 foldable smartphone and Galaxy Z Flip2 clamshell phone in July. It is unclear whether the company has plans to launch any other flagship phone later this year.
