Armenia to import AstraZeneca to vaccinate population against COVID-19 – health minister

After a close study into the international conclusions regarding the COVID-19 vaccines, a decision has been made to import AstraZeneca to Armenia to promote its universal usage, the minister of health said today, adding that their observations were based on the best international practices.

“We are closely following all the processes going on around AstraZeneca and all the other vaccines. Yes, we are going to import it; such is the decision,” Anahit Avanesyan told reporters.

Noting that public figures in most world countries have been offering assistance to popularizing vaccination, the minister said that many Armenian officials too, have been vaccinated against the infection if they proved to be in the risk groups.

“Officials who will want to make their vaccination process and other records public will certainly do that. Public figures in many countries are normally trying to make the information public in support of the vaccination process, but any information constituting a medical secret cannot be released by others. Individuals with chronic diseases and the elderly are in the risk group, and that may logically include also government officials,” she added.
