Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, head of the CSTO Joint Staff, expressed the opinion that the use of CSTO forces on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is out of the question, TASS agency writes.

“There is no talk yet about sending CSTO peacekeeping contingents to Armenia. We hope that the conflict will be resolved peacefully," he said.

Earlier it was reported that the CSTO mission would arrive in Yerevan on the evening of September 15.

According to Sidorov, the proposal to send a mission was put forward by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. It was supported by all member countries of the organization.

Yesterday CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zaynetdinov said that the CSTO has started to implement the agreements reached at the session of the Collective Security Council, which refer to sending the organization's mission to Armenia to "assess the situation in some parts of the border of Armenia".

Meanwhile, CSTO General Secretary Stanislav Zas plans to visit Armenia next week. The mission will be headed by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov.

On September 13, around 00:05, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack along the state border of the Republic of Armenia, undertaking military operations in the directions of Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik regions. The RA Ministry of Defense reported that the positions located in the direction of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar were shelled. Civilian infrastructure was also hit. According to preliminary data, the Armenian side has 105 victims. RA Ministry of Defense press spokesman Aram Torosyan said during the evening briefing that the fire in all directions has almost stopped since 20:00, no significant incidents have been recorded.
