Gallup reveals unemployment rate in Armenia

Recent findings by Gallup International suggest that 73% of women and 62% of men are unemployed in Armenia.
The official unemployment rate was 6% as of December 2011. The figure is said to be 1% lower compared to the beginning of the year.
The female unemployment rate – 70.9% - continued to remain high. According to the National Statistical Service, there are 75,000 unemployed individuals, of whom 52,000 (about 70%) are women.
The male and female unemployment rate in the neighboring Azerbaijan was 63% and 54%, respectively. As for Georgia, 70% of women and 69% of men in the country were reported to be jobless. In Iran, the figures appeared to be even higher – 81% and 75%.
