Three twins born in Yerevan medical center

A record-breaking number of twins' birth was registered in a Yerevan hospital in December.
Three pairs of siblings, all of them girls, were welcomed into the world at the Slavmed medical center in the past weeks.
All the infants are viable and mature, with the smallest weighing 2.1 kg at birth, the hospital’s director, Hovhannes Ghazaryan, told Tert.am.
“Two of the babies had respiratory problems at birth but their condition stabilized after the necessary medical intervention. They will be in a general care unit tomorrow,” he said.
The head of the neonatal department says they are now equipped with all the necessary modern supplies to ensure a high-level care for the newborns and reduce materanal mortality.
“The birth of three pairs is just kind of festivity for us. We, the doctors, do not often use ‘pair’ when referring to couples as they are normally distinguished into identical and fraternal twins in medicine,” Hovhannes Ghazaryan said.
A highly qualified medical personnel, coupled with state-of-the-art equipment, are vital to ensuring proper care and treatment.
“All the necessary facilities are successfully synthesized in Slavamed, with the doctor-patient relations being on the highest level,” Ghazaryan said.
The twins’ parents say they still remember being pleasantly struck by surprise upon knowing the good news of expecting two babies.
“You kind of forget about everything upon hearing such news. This kind of kids are like angels, a special gift by God,” said one of the young mothers, thanking the hospital personnel for proper care and attention.
