New airline to carry out domestic flights in Armenia
Vazgen Safaryan, Chairman of the Committee on Financial-Economic and Budgetary Affairs, Public Council of Armenia, told journalists on Monday that the SKY NET airline is one more Armenia air carrier.
SKY NET airline Director Grigory Vardanyan noted that the company has acquired a plane for domestic flights.
The company was founded by the National Air Association in 2011. The airline is now operating a Jetstream 32 plane designed for 19 passengers.
The Armenia International Airports Company and Eduardo Eurnekian helped acquire the airplane. The airline plans to carry out Yerevan-Kapan-Yerevan, Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan, Yerevan-Stepanavan Yerevan flights, as well as flights to Armenia’s other regions if the local airports are renovated.
“We plan to carry out not only domestic flights,” Mr Vardanyan said. Specifically, the airline plans flights to Tbilisi, Batum and Tabriz.
An hour of flight costs $1,680, with fuel costs constituting the major part, the Zvartnots airport management is willing to offer discounts.
