Armenian writer and translator Samvel Mkrtchyan dies

Armenian writer, translator and columnist and Chief Editor of the Artasaghmanyan Grakanutyun (Foreign Literature) quarterly Samvel Mkrtchyan has died on Monday, aged 54.

Samvel Mkrtchyan was born in Talin, Armenia, in 1959. After leaving school in Gyumri, he graduated from Yerevan State Linguistic Institute in 1983.

He published numerous articles and stories in Armenia and abroad, translated many books.
