Hovik Abrahamyan hails Arrmenian-Czech business partnership

Armenia's prime minister highly praised the country's progressively developing business relations with the Czech Republic as he delivered an opening speech at a bilateral business forum in Prague.

Hovik Abrahamyan particularly stressed the importance of the enhanced business and investment atmosphere in Armenia, noting that the country is now a leader on the post-Soviet territory in terms of its business advantages.

“Armenia today is an attractive country from the point of view of its business environment; we pursue a policy of ‘open doors’, avoiding restrictions on investment activities and offering  a full protection and investment guarantees according to the law. Today, we have created an active system to boost investments in sectors having export potentials. Armenia has free trade agreements with almost all the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, so after joining the Eurasian Economic Union in January 2015, Armenia has a free access to a 170 million market,” he said, adding that the country’s membership in the bloc can also offer advantages to European partners.

The premier promised the state’s individual approach to investment projects, depending on the needs of individual investors. He said he would hail any joint business cooperation initiative between Czech and Armenian businessmen. “It is my pleasure to invite Czech businessmen and Czech companies to Armenia for doing business. We invite Czech companies to make investments in Armenia, especially in such sectors as renewable energy food re-procession, tourism and agribusiness.”

The premier started his three-day working visit to Prague on Monday on the invitation of his Czech counterpart, Bohuslav Sobotka.
