World-famous singer and song writer Charles Aznavour is planning a concert in Moscow on April 5 to perform for a faithful audience awaiting him with passion, the Russian newspaper Chastnyi Korrespondent reports.

The publication interviewed the legendary musician ahead of the scheduled event, describing him a universal and international symbol. “Such is the image of Charles Aznavour, who is known as a benefactor and is also Armenia’s honorary consul to UNESCO,” it says.

The musician shared stories of his life and career, speaking of the hardships of the past and present.

He said that his parents, Genocide survivors, were a model of kindness for him and his sister, Aida, as they instilled in them the desire to help others in need since early childhood.

“My life was probably a victory against myself. I started everything from a scratch and learned everything – whether music, literature or acting technique - on my own. Education wasn’t free then, and our family’s means being quite modest, I had to drop out of school early. From that moment on, I was independent in all my endeavors,” said the singer.

Asked whether performing on stage is psychologically easier or vice versa, the singer said he never thought about the audience’s reaction before rising to prominence. “But it’s an absolutely different feeling when you know the audience is there just for you. My audience is faithful; I meet with them as though I see an old friend,” he added.
