Armenian Foreign Ministry hails international reaction to Turkey’s Genocide denial
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the passage by the Dutch parliament of the resolution condemning Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s April 24 remark and the call upon the country’s government to notify the Turkish authorities of their position on Armenian Genocide denial.
“We welcome international reaction against denialist remarks of Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Armenian Genocide. By adopting this motion, Netherlands and its parliamentarians once again demonstrated their principled stance on human rights and Genocide Prevention,” reads the message posted on the Ministry’s Facebook page.
In the resolution adopted by a vast majority of votes, the House of Representatives of the Netherlands appealed to their government to renounce the Turkish leader’s remarks and to convey their opinion to the government. All the parliamentary factions apart from the three-member Denk voted in support of the motion.
