Our alliance with the Republican was unexpected but predictable, says Homeland party’s leader
Our decision to team up with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) was unexpected but predictable, the leader of the Homeland party today, elaborating on the political bloc’s pre-election platform.
Artur Vanetsyan, a former national security director currently listed as the prime ministerial candidate of Armenia Alliance, also praised their team’s high competence in handling security affairs. “No one can handle security challenges better than we do,” he said, addressing the voters in the town of Spitak (Lori region).
As an important groundwork of cooperation, the politician also highlighted the shared ideological values. “The alliance of our parties is important not only from the tactical viewpoint but also in the sense that we share similar ideological values. I Have the Honor is definitely heading towards a victory. I have no doubt that our team will secure enough votes to form a government to later embark on all the programs outlined in our pre-election platform” he added.
The politician blamed the acting prime minister for populism, considering his promises to address the problems in the agriculture, healthcare and education sectors untimely. In his words, those concerns should have been dealt with “only after neutralizing the threats to the statehood and national values.
“Yes, the Republican Party of Armenia did have errors indeed, but their errors are possible to correct as opposed to those committed by Pashinyan,” he said, citing the irrevocable losses suffered during the recent Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) war.
