Introducing the house of the future: From smart mirrors that recommend outfits to fridges that peel and cook food

With the creation of things like smart watches, Siri, Alexa and Apple Home, houses these days are already pretty high tech.

But what will the average home of the future look like? 


A new interactive activation supported by Tesla is set to debut at the Sydney Property Buyer Expo this weekend has offered an eye-opening glimpse into what they believe homes will look like in 2040 and beyond - and it does not disappoint, the Daily Mail reports.


FEMAIL has looked at each of the rooms and how they are likely to change over the next 23 years.


According to those who created the activation, each home will have a central 'technological unit'.


This unit will connect all rooms and occupants with 'MotherHen' responsible for all the going-ons in the house.


"MotherHen will monitor energy levels, room temperatures, everyone’s schedules, security and more," they explain. 

 

THE BEDROOM

 

The bedrooms will have a brand new injection of tech, with the beds themselves serving as far more than a cosy sleeping spot.

The beds will actually help maximise sleep cycles by monitoring sleep patterns, breathing and heartbeat and the mattresses will adjust their firmness for each individual.


The wardrobe will also offer some fun features including a smart mirror with a virtual closet that will make clothing recommendations based on trends.


It will also show you what your outfit looks like before you put it on.

The kitchen will also be given a technological upgrade, with smart surfaces on cabinets and benchtops connecting with 'MotherHen'

 

THE LOUNGE ROOM  


The lounge room will become a fully submersible experience with televisions likely to become the entire wall surface.


There will also be a virtual reality system including smart speakers to scan the room to alter their output for best surround sound experience.

THE HOME OFFICE 


Advancements in holographic projection means most people will be working from home in the future.  


Special glasses or contact lenses will allows people to access the Internet with their eyes and a smart surface desk will also serve as a filing cabinet, phone, keyboard and to-do list.

THE BATHROOM 

Doctor trips will likely be far less necessary in the future, with the toilets able to analyse body waste products and conduct medical tests to identify any health issues.

Walls will have digital wallpaper to choose which scenery you’d like for the day - for example a beach horizon - and toilet seats will have a voice command for opening and closing so you never have to touch a toilet again.


Smart surface mirrors will get an upgrade too and will offer advice on makeup suggestions and show you what it looks like before application.


Water usage will also be recycled through the house with organic matter removed as the water is purified and put back into water storage.

In the laundry of the future, clothes will be layered with a substance that resists soiling and odour.


The 'washing machine' will also clean and freshen towels, sheets and all other regular laundry without using water.

THE GARAGE 


The garage floor will use magnetic resonance to induce an electromagnetic field and charge the car wirelessly.


It will also contain the house’s central technology unit with smart surfaces that show gridlocks, and weather forecasts.


All cars will have the ability to talk to the city road system, minimising traffic and gridlock and the car of the future will be a self-automated, self-driving car.
